About the Department

Joseph Kochanek is a College Fellow in the Department of Government, where he will serve as the Senior Honors Program Coordinator for the undergraduate program.  He received his Ph.D. in June 2009.  His dissertation, The Intellectual Origins of the League of Nations, examined the plans for international organization intended to foster interstate peace – and the moral and political justifications for them – offered in Britain and the United States during World War One.  His general research interests include the history of political thought, theories of international relations, and religion and politics.  He received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, majoring in political science and history.
