Graduate Student

Daniel Schlozman is a PhD candidate in Government and Social Policy at Harvard University. His dissertation asks about the causes and effects of socially important interest groups’ decisions to ally with American political parties. Although it also includes a comparative study of twenty movements from Free Soil to gay rights, it principally considers two cases: organized labor’s long partnership with the Democratic Party; and evangelical conservatives’ alliance with the Republican Party since the 1970s. Beyond parties, social movements, labor, religion, and political history, his interests include social policy and urban politics. He received an AB magna cum laude in Social Studies from Harvard College. In 2008-9, he is a graduate fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
