Markus Jachtenfuchs is Pierre Keller Visiting Professor. He is also Professor of European and Global Governance at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. After studying political science in Mainz, Paris, Berlin and Bruges, he received his doctorate from the European University Institute in Florence in 1994. He worked at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES) and completed his post-doctoral thesis at the University of Mannheim in 1999. He was a Heisenberg fellow of the German Research Foundation and a co-director of the Bremen research centre on transformations of the state. Before joining the Hertie School of Governance in 2006 he was Visiting Professor at the University of Greifswald and Professor of Political Science at Jacobs University Bremen. His main research interest is the problem-solving capacity and accountability of multi-level governance in the European Union and in global governance.
