Comparative Politics / International Political Economy
Han-Pu Tung is a Ph.D. candidate in the Government Department. His dissertation project deals with special interest politics in China's post-reform trade liberalization. Theoretically, the dissertation revises the well-received common-agency framework for China's special institutional environment, and empirically, it also designs a non-linear statistical model to tackle the problem of lack of information about political contributions in authoritarian countries like China. His broader research interests include domestic sources of foreign economic policymaking, exchange rate regimes, and, more generally, political economic models for understanding economic policymaking in authoritarian regimes.
