I am interested in the intersection of public policy and public opinion in the U.S. My dissertation examines the conditions under which citizens and elected officials devote attention to the relatively low-visibility issues of health under-insurance, prescription drug safety, and home loan risk. My other academic interests include survey design, welfare state retrenchment, immigrant political incorporation, and the politics of U.S. food and drug policy. I received my B.A. in Political Science and Economics from the University of California, Irvine in 2005.
