Jeffrey Javed is a PhD student in the Department of Government at Harvard University. His primary research interests are historical institutionalism, political sociology, and rural political economy; his regional interest is China. Within Chinese politics, he has researched a wide variety of topics, such as trends in the usage of the environmental letters and visits system; the nexus between the Ministry of Environment, environmental activists, and the media; the evolution of the rural tax reforms (1993-2006); and the local implementation of the urban minimum livelihood guarantee system. Jeffrey received his BA in Sociology and East Asian Studies from Cornell University in 2009.
