Zachary Barter received his B.A. in political science from Brown University in 2006. His senior thesis, “The Movement that Wasn’t: Extreme Right-Wing Political Parties in Sweden,” won the departmental prize for best thesis in comparative politics and was selected for publication in book-form by the university press. After graduation, Zach spent a year on a Fulbright grant in Taiwan, studying Mandarin and teaching English at a rural elementary school. His research interests include U.S. foreign policy, democratization and China's role in international affairs.
