Dissertation Research
| After the second year of graduate study, students begin
research on their Ph.D. dissertations. Writing a dissertation is the most challenging
aspect of graduate work, with the greatest opportunities for originality. Dissertation
research is supervised by a committee of three faculty members; students typically work
closely with their advisors. Many Harvard Government Department dissertations have appeared
subsequently, in revised form, as books. |
