Biographical Note:
My principal areas of academic interest include the economic and political impacts of institutional change and the political economy of international migration.
I am currently based in Kabul, Afghanistan, where I am leading two major impact evaluations sponsored by the World Bank and the Government of Afghanistan.
The first evaluation examines the economic, social, and political impacts of the National Solidarity Program (NSP), a multi-donor community-driven development program being implemented across Afghanistan. The NSP study also aims to estimate the impact of variation in methods of electing village councils and selecting village projects.
The second evaluation examines the economic, social, and political impacts of a rural road rehabilitation program, the National Emergency Rural Access Progam (NERAP).
