Biographical Note:
I grew up in Vermont and received a BA in Slavic Languages and Literatures from Harvard in 1999. After living in Russia for a year, I returned to Harvard, to the Department of Government, to study Comparative Politics. I broadened my regional focus to include Latin America in addition to the post-socialist region, and studied in Mexico and Brazil. I selected the latter for comparison with Russia in my dissertation on political party systems, and conduced extensive field-work in both, much of it traveling among the states and regions of both nations to compare party systems within countries as well as between the two.
