Biographical Note:
I'm a second-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Government at Harvard. My primary research interests include environmental politics, informal institutions and identity politics, social movements, the politics of the former Soviet Union and the Arctic, and qualitative methods. I completed my B.A. at the University of Washington in 2005, where my senior thesis on ideological and institutional innovation in post-Soviet Cuba received the Daniel Lev Award for best honors thesis in political science. In my free time, I can ordinarily be found searching for the elusive perfect espresso in the greater Cambridge area, racking up excessive frequent flier mileage between BOS-SEA-ANC, and insisting that ideology is an independent variable in its own right.
