Assistant Professor of Government

My research looks at how international organizations like the World Trade Organization or International Criminal Court sway countries to do things they wouldn’t otherwise do. They can shape public opinion about complying with international rules. But they also trigger political battles between opposing interests. I also study the political causes and consequences of massive changes in the international economy, such as interdependence from trade and surges in automation and technology. Our department has amazing students, staff, teachers, and researchers. I love working with them.
Outside of CGIS, my wife Sarah and I chase around our two young daughters (sometimes they run around CGIS, too). I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia. I live in Waltham, where we’ve found a great community in our neighborhood and church. I constantly check for updates on UGA football and river flows to see if I can steal away for fly fishing.
