Dan Carpenter, Allie S. Freed Professor of Government and Chair of the Department of Government, was awarded the John Gaus Award by the American Political Science Association (APSA). This award honors a lifetime of exemplary scholarship in the joint tradition of political science and public administration. Professor Carpenter joins a select list of Harvard Government faculty who have won this award, including our former colleague Hugh Heclo and the last Gaus winner from the Department, the late James Q. Wilson.  Other winners include the Nobel laureate Herbert Simon, Aaron Wildavsky, James March, and the Kennedy School’s Steven Kelman.
