Cherry Tree at Harvard

Assistant Professor of Government

My research focuses on identity, democracy, and group relations. Much of my work explores the politics of minority groups, especially how they navigate electoral politics and interact with members of the majority. I’m currently working on a book that studies the consequences of minority political power in India. Every day, I am inspired by our students, faculty, and staff here at Harvard. I am very grateful to be part of the Government Department and the broader University community.

Outside of the department, I’ve really enjoyed living in the Cambridge area, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family. In my free time, I enjoy running (I completed the Berlin Marathon in September 2024!), taking indoor cycling classes, and catching up on the latest season of Survivor.
