Digital Technology and the End of Human Nature

Antón Barba-Kay is Robert Aird Chair of Humanities at Deep Springs College. The bulk of his professional research has concentrated on nineteenth-century European philosophy–on Hegel and Kierkegaard in particular. His essays have appeared in the Journal of the History of Philosophy, Hegel-Studien, Hegel Bulletin, and Review of Metaphysics, among others. He also writes about contemporary culture and digital technology for a general audience (for The New Republic, The Point, The Hedgehog Review, etc.). His book, A Web of Our Own Making: The Nature of Digital Formation, was published last year by Cambridge University Press.
