Hi everyone! My name is Alexa Shumway, and I am from Palm Beach, Florida. I am a senior in Quincy House concentrating in Government with a secondary in Economics. I am excited to be a PCC this year and help others navigate their Government concentration.
I am interested in political and economic development and how political economy can shape the trajectory of a nation. At Harvard, I have had the opportunity to take many classes that have furthered these interests, such as Professor Raffler’s GOV1135: Politics of Development in Africa and Professor Levitsky’s GOV1295: Comparative Politics in Latin America.
I also had the opportunity to study abroad during my junior spring semester at University College London, so please reach out if you have any questions about studying abroad as a Government concentrator.
Outside of my studies, I am involved in Harvard Investment Association, The Harvard Advocate, Harvard Undergraduate Women in Business, and Harvard Model Congress. I am also a member of Harvard-Radcliffe Modern Dance Company and Expressions Dance Company. In my free time, I enjoy baking, reading in local coffee shops, and reality TV.
Please reach out if I can be of help to you or if you have any questions regarding selecting a concentration, course load, study abroad, or career options outside of policy/law with a Government degree.
