Professor McConnell is the Richard and Frances Mallery Professor and Director of the Constitutional Law Center at Stanford University Law School and a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He was nominated by President George W. Bush, and unanimously confirmed by the Senate, to serve as a Circuit Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit from 2002 to 2009.
At this lecture, McConnell will discuss his book, of the same title as his presentation. The book provides a comprehensive account of the drafting of presidential powers and discusses how the nation’s founders decided the division of congressional and presidential powers to avoid tyranny in the U.S. government.
