Peer Concentration Counselor
Class of 2026 (Pforzheimer House)

Hi everyone! My name is Ayumi Nagatomi, and I’m a junior in Pforzheimer House joint-concentrating in Government and East Asian Studies. I’m originally from Tokyo, and I’m very excited to be a Peer Concentration Counselor this year!

My academic interests lie in international relations, with a particular focus on security and nuclear arms control. I chose to joint concentrate with EAS to bring a regional lens to my Government coursework, especially around East Asian security issues. I’ve also cross-registered at the Kennedy School to explore policymaking and diplomacy more deeply. Some of my favorite courses so far have been GOV 94NC: International Security and GOV 1796: Central Challenges of American National Security, Strategy, and the Press.

Outside the classroom, I’m involved with Harvard Undergraduate Women in Foreign Policy and the Harvard Undergraduate Japan Policy Network. Across different summers, I’ve studied abroad, interned at a think tank in D.C., and conducted thesis research internationally.

Please feel free to reach out. I’d love to chat about anything from exploring interests in IR, summer study abroad, to course planning or joint concentrations!
