Peer Concentration Counselor
Class of 2027 (Leverett House)

My name is Chris Shin, and I’m originally from Cherry Hill, NJ (basically Philly). I’m currently a junior in Leverett House, double concentrating in Government and Chemical & Physical Biology with a secondary in Music.

I’m thrilled to serve as a PCC this year and support you in navigating the Government concentration and your broader academic journey. My interests lie at the intersection of policy, healthcare, and international relations—especially how institutions respond to global health crises and how policy can advance more resilient and equitable healthcare systems. What I love most about the Government department is how it allows you to approach these questions from so many angles—through political theory, international relations, and quantitative analysis. Some of my favorite Gov classes so far have been Professor Hummel’s GOV 1249: Authoritarianism and Professor Ansolabehere’s GOV 1360: American Public Opinion.

Outside of class, I’m the President of Harvard Model Congress Europe, where we run the premier international government simulation conference for high school students in Europe. I also serve as Co-Chair of the IOP Policy Program, where I lead student teams conducting policy research and writing briefs for real-world stakeholders. On the research side, I study infectious disease epidemiological modeling at the Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard and conduct global health research through the Harvard Global Health Institute. Beyond academics, I’m a passionate musician as a classical pianist and jazz trumpeter—I serve as President of the Harvard College Piano Society and play lead trumpet in the Harvard Jazz Orchestra.

I’m always happy to chat about courses, concentrations, research, public service, or anything else on your mind—please don’t hesitate to reach out!
