Peer Concentration Counselor
Class of 2024 (Pforzheimer House)

Hi everyone! My name is Corine Chung and I’m a junior in Pforzheimer House. I’m concentrating in Government and am considering either a double concentration with or secondary in Economics. I’m originally from the Los Angeles area, and I’m so excited to serve as a Peer Concentration Counselor this year!

My interests within Government are vast, and I’ve enjoyed courses from several different focuses and subfields. I’m primarily interested in law and public policy, and as such have enjoyed taking American Constitutional Law. I also loved Behavioral Insights and Public Policy: Nudging for Good and my Sophomore Tutorial, Social Influences on Political Behavior, both of which brought a sociology and psychology aspect to the curriculum.

Outside of academics, I enjoy being involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. I’m the Under-Secretary-General of the Economic and Social Council & Regional Bodies for Harvard National Model United Nations as well as the Faculty Liaison for Harvard Model Congress San Francisco. Moreover, I’m a Finance Chair for the Harvard Undergraduate Women in Law Association as well as a Consulting Team Leader for the Behavioral Strategy Group. I’m also involved with the Public Opinion Project at the Institute of Politics.

Moreover, I have had the privilege of experiencing amazing internship opportunities during my summers. I was a Policy Fellow for Michelle Wu during the summer of 2021 (at this time, she was still serving as a City Councilor and not yet Mayor of Boston). I conducted research, wrote memos, and drafted policy proposals specifically relating to climate change and environmental issues. Summer of 2022, I returned to Southern California to join the State Bar of California in its Los Angeles office as a Programs Division Intern. The State Bar of California is responsible for licensing, regulating, and disciplining attorneys, advancing the ethical and competent practice of law, and supporting efforts to increase access to and inclusion in the legal system. I had the opportunity to spearhead a variety of projects in the Programs Division, which include the Offices of Access & Inclusion, Professional Competence, Admissions, and Professional Support & Client Protection. I would be more than happy to speak to anyone about my experiences and how to navigate the search for summer internships!

I’m excited to get to know a lot of you this year! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions if you’d like to discuss the Government concentration, opportunities outside of the classroom, or any other aspect of Harvard life. And to the members of the class of 2026, welcome! I hope to be able to provide you with the same support and guidance I received from my mentors and upperclassmen. Again, please feel free to reach out at any time!
