Hi everyone! My name is Courtney Taylor, originally born in Chicago, Illinois, but now living in Greer, South Carolina. I’m a junior in Eliot House double concentrating in Government and History with hopes of being Elle Woods when I graduate. I’m incredibly excited to be a PCC this year and look forward to helping you navigate your journey through the Government concentration (and beyond!).
I’m really drawn to the way history, activism, and politics all overlap—especially how power shapes people’s lives, and how people push back to make change. Some of my favorite courses so far include GOV 40: International Conflict and Cooperation and my sophomore tutorial, Place, Race, and Power, which explored how geography and governance structure inequality in the U.S. I’m also thrilled to be taking GOV 1510: American Constitutional Law this fall!
Outside of class, I’m a member of the Harvard Women’s Rugby Team—fresh off our second consecutive national championship! I’m also involved in Harvard SWAN (Service With A Name), a student-led public service organization that promotes civic engagement through mentorship, service projects, and an annual public service conference. I’m additionally a part of Harvard ICMUN (International Collegiate Model United Nations), where we collaborate with students around the world to tackle global challenges through debate and diplomacy. In my free time, you’ll usually find me watching Criminal Minds, playing spike ball, or exploring new restaurants.
