Dina Kobeissi
Peer Concentration Counselor
Class of 2024 (Quincy House)

Hi everyone! My name is Dina Kobeissi and I am a senior in Quincy House studying Government and Modern Middle Eastern Studies. I am originally from Boston and I love to travel; this past semester I studied abroad at the American University of Beirut. I am so excited to be one of your government PCCs this year!

My interests in Government are wide-ranging but I am especially interested in international relations and foreign policy in the MENA region. Even though it was taught virtually my freshman fall, Gov 20 with Professor Levitsky really sparked my interest in Gov as I fell in love with all the different theoretical approaches in understanding complex phenomena like state formation and governmental development. In addition to Gov20, some of my favorite Government classes thus far have been GOV 1510: American Constitutional Law, a GOV94 seminar on the United Nations, and GOV 1759: Behavioral Insights and Public Policy.

Outside of class, I am Founder and President of the Harvard Arab Women’s Collective, a Community Resources Director for the Harvard Small Claims Advisory Service, and Diversity and Inclusion C0-Director for Harvard Women in Law. I’ve also worked with the Harvard Institute of Politics, Harvard Model Congress, and the Society of Arab Students.

Outside of Harvard, I interned with Arab America, a national media organization founded with the purpose of promoting an accurate image of the Arab American community and the Arab world. I also worked with the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative in advocating for the passing of proclamations related to Lung Cancer Initiatives and communicated with mayors and governors in various states.

Please feel free to reach out with any of your questions about being a Government concentrator! I came into Harvard struggling with having so many interests and passions, so feel free to reach out to me if you’re finding yourself in a similar boat or if you have any other questions!
