Kanglin (Connie) Chen
Preceptor in Geospatial Analysis

Connie Chen is a preceptor in spatial analysis in the Government Department at Harvard University and an associate with Harvard’s Center for Geographic Analysis (CGA). She holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Florida, an MS in Geography from Peking University, and a B.Agric. from BJFU. She teaches multiple GIS courses and training programs to students and researchers at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.

Chen’s research focuses on spatial science and urban planning, with topics including hazard management and resilience, human mobility and transportation, and the built environment. Her research methods include spatial analysis, big data analytics, spatial statistics, remote sensing, and data mining. She is proficient in GIS software, R, and Python. She also has training in qualitative methods and urban and landscape design.

Beyond research, Chen has participated in practical planning and tool‐development projects in environmental and transportation fields, collaborating with government agencies in both the U.S. and China.
