Hey y’all! My name is Liz Benecchi, and I’m originally from just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I’m a senior in Adams House concentrating in Government on the Law and Justice Track, with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy, and I’m earning a citation in Spanish. I’m super excited to be here as a resource for you and help with any academic or extracurricular questions you might have!
I’ve loved my time in the Government department and am particularly interested in the rule of law, public policy, criminal justice, and health policy. I’m writing my senior thesis on physician-assisted suicide policy in the United States, which I would be more than happy to discuss! My favorite classes in the Government department have included Professor Holland’s Gov 1114: Law and Inequality, Professor Ziblatt’s Gov 94DS: Democracy Under Stress, and Gabriel Katsh’s Gov 94EM: Crime, Responsibility, and the Law. During my junior year, I had the honor of serving as a research assistant for Professor Holland, which I’d be glad to talk about too.
On campus, I serve as the Director of Internship and Career Services at the Institute of Politics (IOP), where I help connect students and alumni to foster professional development. Also at the IOP, I’ve served as Chair of the Fellows and Study Groups program, and I’m currently involved with the Harvard Public Opinion Project, Harvard Votes Challenge, and CIVICS, where I teach sixth graders about American government. I’m also involved in Women in Business and work at the Widener Library Circulation Desk.
Please feel free to reach out if I can help with anything! I’m more than happy to chat about class recommendations, getting a research position in the Government department, securing thesis grant funding or advising, the Law and Justice Track, or anything else you need. The Government department is amazing, and I love being a part of this campus community!
