Mafalda Pratas is a Ph.D candidate in the Department of Government. Her research agenda is at the intersection of comparative political institutions and representation in modern democracies (primarily Europe and North America). In particular, she is interested in the origins and effects of direct vs. representative democratic institutions, the roles of political parties, and the emergence of different types of political representation.
