Matthew Cohen
Ph.D. Student in Government

I study political theory, with a general focus on democratic theory. My current research deals with the philosophical foundations of liberalism and democracy, and the extent to which political theory and practice can abstract from contested ethical questions. Some more specific interests of mine include American pragmatism (especially John Dewey), J.S. Mill, and critical theory.
