Hi everyone! My name is William, and I am a junior in Leverett House from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I am excited to serve as a PCC for this upcoming academic year and answer questions you have about the world of Government at Harvard.
I’m a double concentrator in both Government and Psychology, with an expected secondary in East Asian Studies. Some of my favorite courses include Professor Levitsky’s GOV1295: Comparative Politics in Latin America, Professor Hummel’s GOV1249: Authoritarianism, and my sophomore tutorial on public opinion. These courses, along with my research assistantship experiences in the department, have contributed to shaping my interest in topics ranging from political behavior to democratic backsliding. At heart, I think understanding the people behind politics is important in making better decisions and building stronger institutions of governance.
In addition to my academic interests, I invest time in publications like the Harvard International Review and in think tanks like the IOP Policy Program and the Undergraduate Think Tank. I’m also an avid cellist, dually enrolled at the New England Conservatory, and I love playing with friends, in ensembles across campus, and for outreach programs like MIHNUET. In my free time, I enjoy meeting new people, trying new restaurants, playing cards and chess, and watching sports and movies.
Please reach out for anything, big or small, that you’d like to know more about! I’m happy to answer any and all questions, as well as learn about your interests too!
